OMCap: Can you give us a sneak preview to your presentation?
L. Pope:
I’ll be looking at the vision gap many brands experience between their content strategy and their content reality. Crucially, I’ll talk about what causes that gap and how to close it.

OMCap: Do you have any expectations of the German audience?
L. Pope:
I hope that they will ask a lot of questions – I’m really interested to find out more about the specific challenges that marketers in Germany experience when it comes to content.

OMCap: Are there any challenges at work, that keep you up at night?
L. Pope:
One of the biggest challenges that I deal with is getting the right processes in place to deliver great content.
A recent project I’ve been working on involves working to an 18-month planning cycle and coordinating a large number of teams and stakeholders from around the world to publish content in multiple markets on multiple platforms. Getting the right processes in place to make sure everything is in the right place in the right time is very complicated – a bit like making a watch – but it’s the kind of challenge I love.

Briliant noiseOMCap: Which three new trends in Content Marketing are going to be the most successful ones?
L. Pope:
Three content trends that I think are worth watching out for are:
Measuring attention rather than traffic – looking at things like page scrolls and time on page that tell you whether people are really reading/watching your content.
Analysing and streamlining processes – this is about really understanding how much your content costs and what return it generates.
Customer experience-focused content – content that aims to make things easier for users and really meets their needs.
I think all three trends are a response to the same issue: there’s a enormous amount of content being produced every day, and our audience has a finite amount of time and attention – they can’t read it all! For your content to cut through and to get the edge on your competitors, you need create content that’s more user-focused, more engaging and more cost-efficient.

OMCap: Is it your first time in Berlin? Are you going to do some sightseeing? If yes, what do you want to see?
L. Pope:
I haven’t been to Berlin for about 10 years, so I’m really hoping I’ll have some time for sightseeing. I’m training for a marathon at the moment, so I’ll probably bring my trainers and go for a run and see some of the city that way.
