Thibodeau_Amy_NEUAmy Thibodeau ist Schriftstellerin und Content-Strategin bei Facebook. Um auf dem Content Marketing Symposium der OMCap dabei zu sein, reist sie nach Berlin. Folgendes Thema hat sie dabei für euch im Gepäck: “Designing with Words: The Critical Role for Marketers and Content People in the Creative Process”. In einem Interview hatten wir die Chance, Amy bereits jetzt kennenzulernen:

OMCap: Can you give us a sneak preview to your presentation?
A. Thibodeau:
I’m going to talk about the enormous impact language has on how people think about companies and use products. People in marketing roles are in a great position to advocate for clear, useful content because they’re often the closest to understanding what customers need and want.
I’m going to talk about some of the techniques that have worked for me to ensure that content is considered from the beginning of an idea through to launch, and beyond.

OMCap: Do you have any expectations of the German audience?
A. Thibodeau:
I’m sure they’ll be a great audience! I’m excited to meet them.

OMCap: Are there any challenges at work that keep you up at night?
A. Thibodeau:
At my job I’m always challenged to manage my time well because there’s always a lot of exciting work to do and it’s important to prioritize the most important work first. I wouldn’t say it keeps me up at night, but it occasionally gives me stressful dreams!

FacebookOMCap: Which three new trends in 2014 are going to be the most successful?
A. Thibodeau:
I make a point of not trying to predict the future, but the things I’m most excited about are:

  • Better mobile experiences: A huge part of the world is still not online and will probably exclusively use mobile devices. I think we’ve still got a long way to go to make mobile experiences work well on lower-end devices and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
  • Less jargon: More than ever before, I think we’re heading in a direction where people have less tolerance for content that takes up their limited attention but doesn’t say anything of value. More and more customers are accessing our services on mobile devices where we have limited space to say something meaningful. My hope is that this means there will be less jargon and fluff and more honest, purposeful communication.
  • Wearables: After Apple’s announcement a few weeks ago, I’d be remiss to not mention the potential for wearables like the iWatch. I already wear a Fitbit, but am interested in seeing how more advanced wearable devices can help keep us more informed about our health and help us set goals.

OMCap: Did you read a good book in the last year? Can you recommend it?
A. Thibodeau:
I really enjoyed Nicely Said: Writing for the Web with Style and Purpose by Nicole Fenton and Kate Kiefer Lee. It’s got some great tips about how to craft clear, useful content.

OMCap: Is it your first time in Berlin? Are you going to do some sightseeing? If yes, what do you want to see?
A. Thibodeau:
I’ve been to Berlin once before. My husband and I are big fans of mid-century modern design and architecture so we’re excited to just explore and possibly take in a vintage shop or two to see if we can’t add to our small but nicely formed collection of Deiter Rams objects.
